What's here

Thanks for stopping by. I am particularly fond of Early American subjects with a New England perspective. So far, you'll find mostly book reviews in that vein.

However, the more I learn with family history research, the more topics appeal to me. For instance, I traced my 2nd great-grandmother (Diadame Wiggins) back to England's King Henry III...and to the Norman Conquest (1066) on Ancestry.com (this is not confirmed). Now, I want to read about Normans, Saxons and the Domesday Book (that forced regular surnames on peasant folk. The more I know, the more I want to know...and share. So stay tuned.

I've included descendant charts for my immigrant ancestors. If you see a familiar surname, you might be a cousin. Get in touch for more information, to share your information, and to send corrections for errors you find. I would never have acquired the wealth of family history I have now, without the generosity of other researchers. The genealogy community rocks.

News & Bits

Springfield, MA - Historical House Tour
I love architecture too and Springfield, Massachusetts has the largest inventory of late 19th-century homes in New England. The Springfield Preservation Trust is holding a McKnight neighborhood twilight tour on Sunday, October 23 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. The owners open up their homes, which are lovingly (and often lavishly) restored. It's always a delight and learning experience. The proceeds support local preservation efforts.
